The consent tool sets four small cookies when you make a choice on the banner: one per category, one recording your overall answer, and one recording that you have seen it. They exist so we do not ask again. That is the necessary category, and it is everything that is set before you decide.

Analytics means Google Analytics 4. It is off until you accept it. The script itself is fetched from Google when the page loads so that it can honour your answer, but in its default state it sets no cookies and identifies nobody. When you switch it on, it records which pages are visited and roughly where from, with IP addresses truncated, and it is not used for advertising. You can change your answer at any time from the link in the footer.

Nothing else runs before you choose. The typefaces, the consent tool and the profile images on our briefings are all served from our own server, not from Google or anyone else, and there is no map embed, no social widget and no chat tool. Reading a page here sends nothing to a third party.

Until September 2026 this notice had to tell you that our hosting platform loaded its own tracking before you chose. We have switched that off. You can check on any page with your browser's developer tools, and we would rather you did.
